ryan’s personal set up
I wanted to take a moment to share with you my personal AR-15 setup and why I chose the parts that I did. My goal in sharing this information is to educate you on AR-15s and help you make informed decisions when it comes to your own firearm setup. Remember my setup may not be necessarily setup for you but, should give you some ideas to think about and apply to your rifle.
Here's all the details:
I used an Aero Precision Thunder Ranch Receiver Set, which provides a solid foundation for the rest of my rifle. To give it a unique look, I had it custom Cerakoted by Bison Armor Coatings to give it the look of faded camo.
For the barrel, I chose a Ballistic Advantage's 13.9" Hanson Profile barrel. I then Pin and Welded a Dead Air Flash Hider. This barrel provides excellent accuracy while also reducing muzzle flash as well as being a great host for a Dead Air Sandman Silencer.
To improve the handling of my rifle, I added a Geissele 13.5" MK8 Hand Guard, a B5 SOPMOD Stock, and a B5 P23 Grip. These parts make it more comfortable to shoot and allow me to control it easily in any situation.
For the charging handle, I chose a Radian Raptor Charging Handle, which provides smooth and reliable operation as well as larger more tactile handles to quickly charge and rack the rifle. The Radian Talon Safety Selector and Geissele Maritime Bolt Catch also enhance the overall controls of my rifle.
To ensure reliability, I added a Geissele Super 42 H1 Buffer System and a Triggertech Diamond Flat Trigger. These parts work together to ensure that it functions flawlessly under any conditions. I love the soft shooting feel of this rifle and the peace of mind knowing that the Buffer system does its job cycle after cycle.
To improve repeatability and quick point of aim, I added an Emissary Defense Hand Brake and an Eotech EXPS 3-0 Optic. The Eotech G43 3x Magnifier and Eotech ATPIAL Visible/IR Laser/Illuminator also give me the ability to quickly identify and aim in low-light situations.
For backup, I always have a set of back- up iron sights. This rifle has the Griffin Armament Back-up Iron Sights, which are a reliable and effective alternative to optics.
WHY I CHOSE THIS SET UP
When setting up this rifle, I focused on four key aspects: reliability, comfort, quality, and usability.
I wanted to make sure that this rifle would work flawlessly under stress and adverse conditions. It had to feel right in my hands, and the controls had to be in the right spots. Quality was also important to me, and I wanted to be able to depend on this rifle no matter what my mission may be. Finally, it needed to be usable in all aspects of shooting, including long distance and close quarters.
I urge you to take the time to train with your rifle and become familiar with its operation. Run it through its paces to make sure it runs flawlessly, and be prepared for the unknown. Things happen, batteries can fail, and optics can fail. Know how to use your rifle in those conditions before you actually need it in a life or death scenario.
